K4 was hired by Commonwealth Credit Union to design and coordinate the construction of a new credit union branch at the University of Louisville campus, built into existing retail space at the Floyd Street parking garage. The design challenges included integrating Commonwealth’s branded features into a smaller footprint and also co-branding and infusing the well-established University of Louisville identity on their new business partnership. The design intent was to create a student-friendly space; featuring refreshments, entertainment, and learning spaces. The exterior incorporated angles and gray tones from the Commonwealth prototype while honoring the University’s colors. The interior also incorporated prototypical elements of the Commonwealth brand and the furniture was slightly altered as K4 introduced new methods of point-of-service to expand educational opportunities with a focus towards the long-term financial goals of younger members, including bar height tables and L-shaped couches.
