ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Shelbyville, KY – 3,468 s.f.

Commonwealth Credit Union hired K4 to design and assist with the building of a new branch in Shelbyville that would provide convenience for existing members while visually attracting new ones.

The design intent was to utilize their existing branded interior/exterior color palette within a newly designed facility and to improve customer service efficiency and line of site with an open design.

For the interior, K4 modified their existing POD design with a hybrid design to provide a more traditional teller line concept while maintaining the openness of the POD concept.

The exterior presented a design challenge of incorporating a sloped standing seam metal roof, while maintaining the design integrity of the previous prototype. Grey concrete materials were used in lieu of traditional clay brick to be consistent with the color palette. Color changing LED lighting was implemented in the vestibule tower, with the standing seam metal roof lines culminating at the tower.

Overall, K4 utilized low maintenance materials and design elements.
