ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Durango, CO – 26,200 s.f. remodel

The First National Bank of Durango remodel is more than just an updated lobby redesign, it is a venture into communicating the Durango experience into the interior of the space. Durango, CO is a 21st century Old West Town; known for its outdoor recreation and natural beauty, rich history, and exciting future. It was a must that these elements were conveyed throughout the space via graphics and nods to the area’s rich heritage through design and décor features.

The interior showcased “western revival” style – combing traditional Southwestern style with a modern architecture and interior design by incorporating community graphics, artwork, and earthy materials that blended well with the bank’s existing branding and color palette. The exterior changes included adding a canopy over the existing parking lot entrance and relocating the ATMs to the drive thru and under the new covered area.

The design challenge was reconfiguring the lobby to move the teller line closer to the two main entrances, making the service areas more visible and accessible. The design intent was to use the two-story space in the most efficient way possible, while creating separation and distinction amongst the different banking divisions and services, including: retail, loan, trust and investments.
