ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Springfield, OH – 5,785 s.f.

Looking to grow into new markets, The New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank offered K4 the opportunity to design a branch bank for them in Springfield, OH, NCF’s second location in Springfield. They wanted to expand in the city by opening a location that is just north of the downtown area, with the goal of attracting those who may pass by the new location during their workday.

The site allowed for a 5,785 s.f. building with the bank on north end of the building and a separate tenant space for Winan’s Coffee at the south end. This symbiotic relationship for the bank and coffee shop helps to draw more customers than either business would otherwise draw on their own.

Meeting the drive thru expectations for both New Carlisle FSB and Winan’s was a unique challenge. K4 studied the stacking requirements and worked with a civil engineer and Springfield zoning to provide a safe and functional solution with Winan’s drive thru on the south side and the bank’s ATM, night drop and drive thru on the back elevation.

The main elevation of the new location clearly highlights the entry to each establishment with a tower. The shingled roof and brick walls help the building to fit a mostly residential surrounding context. Inside, a sweeping teller line and bulkhead welcomes customers with colors taken from New Carlisle FSB’s new logo. Dark walnut colors on the floor and casework compliment the blues of the New Carlisle colors. Eight feet tall glazing at each bank office provides greater visibility between the bank employees and customer.

With the opening of its newest location, NCF has added six new positions.
