ABOUT THIS PROJECT

West Chester, OH – 4,323 s.f.

The Skally family wanted to relocate their restaurant from its original location in North College Hill (where it served customers for more than 30 years) to a new entertainment style area at the Streets of West Chester. With the move, the brand needed to establish their reputation in an unfamiliar suburb of Cincinnati. Skally’s patrons are families, groups getting together after work or anyone visiting entertainment venues in the West Chester area. K4 updated Skally’s branding while trying to keep the warm, familiar family feel that the Skally family cultivated for decades.

The need for a warm, inviting space drove the use of colors and textures inside the restaurant. Skally’s also wanted an open feel without too much ambient noise. K4 lowered ceiling heights and incorporated acoustic panels into the design to help absorb sound. As a nod to the restaurant’s rich history, K4 displayed an image of the original bakery on the back wall and hung vintage family photos in the new restaurant to tie it back to the family’s roots in North College Hill.
